Privacy policy

Normally privacy policies are long, complicated documents about the data a business collects and what it does with it. Ours is short, because we don't do much with your data.

Access logs

Our server keeps some very basic information called access logs - a text file that's deleted after a few hours. It's present on nearly every web server. The access log is simply a list of pages that were visited, along with the IP address and user agent of the visitor. We keep it in case of a bug on the website, as it helps us track it down.

Nothing in the access log identifies you, and it's removed once it hits a certain size, which usually happens within a few hours.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to get a sense of how people use the website. It's all anonymous, so we don't know anything about you specifically - just which pages are most popular and roughly where visitors came from.

Google Analytics sets some cookies, which begin with _ga.

Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to serve ads. Depending on whether you consented on the cookie screen when you first visited, we'll either show you personalised ads based on your browsing, or non-personalised ads, or no ads at all.

Google AdSense sets some cookies, detailed on the consent screen you saw on your first visit. If you accept, AdSense sets cookies to help it serve more relevant ads to you.

Questions? The data all comes from the Food Standards Agency - or head back home.
