Schools in Nuneaton and Bedworth have a new policy banning the sale of fast food and other takeaways in close proximity to the school grounds. The council has passed this policy in response to concerns about the health of the schoolchildren. The council also believes that the increase in childhood obesity is concerning, as the number of obese children in the town is rising year on year. Taking these concerns into account, the council is looking to reduce the number of unhealthy food options available to pupils in the town, particularly near schools.
