New restrictions on the operation of pubs, restaurants and takeaways have taken effect in the council areas of Derry City and Strabane, Northern Ireland. The ban on hospitality venues is aimed at tackling the coronavirus outbreak, which has been spreading throughout the country. All businesses within the area are now restricted to takeaways, outdoor dining and delivery services. Residents have been urged to limit their use of public transport and to avoid unnecessary travel. All sporting events will also be closed, with spectators not permitted to attend.
In addition to the restrictions, the council has also reminded local business owners that Coronavirus regulations apply to takeaways. According to the regulations, customers are not allowed to consume food or drinks purchased from premises where they are infected with the disease. The restrictions apply to both seating areas and adjacent premises. If you are unsure whether your business complies with the rules, check with the council's website for more information.
